Author Bill Barber will highlight some of the men from northeastern North Carolina who served along our coast during the American Revolution and kept the British at bay. In 1776, the North Carolina Provincial Congress authorized the establishment of Independent Sea Coast Companies to patrol against British vessels along the coast. Eventually, the work of the Sea Coast Companies transitioned to coastal militia who protected the shoreline for the duration of the war.

History for Lunch is available in person and virtually through Zoom. No registration is required if attending in person.
